Seventh Generation
The nautical history of the Fenwick Family dates back to Andrew’s great-great-great-grandfather, who was Andrew Fenwick born in 1813 in Newburgh, Scotland. He brought his family to Australia in 1849. His son John, along with a younger brother Thomas, started J Fenwick & Co in 1870, the Sydney Harbour tug company that was owned and operated by the Fenwick family for 100 years.
Sydney's iconic tug Hero, arguably Sydney's best-known steam tug was Fenwick's 32.2m Hero. Built in England, Hero arrived in Sydney in December 1892. The tug went on to have an impressive career.
The current Fenwicks Marina commenced construction in 1985 and will truly never be completed as it is constantly evolving, updating and redesigning many facets of the facility. This 58-berth marina has been operating for over 30 years and boasts excellent facilities for boat storage, repair and maintenance. Andrew Fenwick is the current Managing Director of the Marina and his son Tim Fenwick is a Director and the seventh generation of Fenwicks with the love of the water in his blood.
